From walking with lions to chatting with Olympians, Fareeda Kanga has been a features and travel writer for some of the most prestigious magazines and periodicals in the country.
Her prolific writings appear in The Economic Times, Femina, Sunday Mid-day, BBC Good Food, BBC Good Homes, Elle Decor, Hindustan Times – Brunch, DNA, Verve, Upper Crust, Elle Decor to name a few.
A graduate of Economics and Commerce, Fareeda began her journalistic career, a little over two decades ago, in college, when she contributed to the Times Of India Group (The Premier Newspaper Group in India) as a freelancer with a special interest in features and travel.
Within a short while she was a regular contributor to a clutch of the leading Indian newspapers and journals. She was appointed the India representative for Asian Hotelier, A Travel Trade publication headquartered out of Hong Kong for several years.
Fareeda has been a guest of The Tourism Boards of Austria, Australia, U.K, New Zealand, France, Finland, San Francisco, Mauritius, Maldives, Manchester and Malaysia besides private companies like Rail Europe, Emirates Airlines. She was one of the three Indian journalists invited by Ken Livingstone’s office (Mayor of London) to cover the launch of India Now – A three-month festival of India in the capital. (July –September 2007).
She has been collaborating with Karen Anand (India’s leading cookery writer and gourmet chef) on a restaurant and hotel guide.
Fareeda is a trustee of PACT (Promise to Act for Children Today) – A charity that works with street children funded out of France and India.
